2022 PORT JEFFERSON DRAGONBOAT RACE FESTIVAL

Join us at the 2022 Port Jefferson Dragon Boat Race Festival held at the Harborfront of Port Jefferson Village on Saturday, September 17, 2022. A committee of chamber members, Suffolk County representatives and tourism professionals are bringing fun, competition and recreation to Port Jefferson’s Village beautiful harbor. The event begins at 8:00am and will conclude at approximately 5:30pm. Spectators are encouraged to come to Port Jefferson harbor with their lawn chairs and blankets to enjoy the festivities.
The Suffolk County Police Asian Jade Society, American Malayalee Law Enforcement United, along with Nationalgrid, will have two boats that will participate in approximately 6-8 races. A minimum of 21 people, 20 paddlers and 1 drummer will be needed per boat and per race. There must be a minimum of 10 female paddlers per boat per race. A sign up sheet will be available with start times of each race. You may choose which race you would like to participate in, if spots are available. First race begins at 9:00am.
The cost is free for members and $20.00 for non-members, which includes dragonboat rental fee, life jackets, paddles, etc., team T-shirt, food and refreshments. Family and kids of paid participants are all welcome and will have full access to tent amenities. Parking is limited so please arrive early.

AMLEU encourages Malayalee Americans to consider a career of service to the nation and their community by serving in the Armed Forces of the United States and in law enforcement. AMLEU would like to inculcate and preserve in its members an understanding and the rightful pride of Malayalam language, Malayalee ancestry, culture, customs and cuisine.

Membership in the organization is made up of active and retired law enforcement officers. Associate membership is also available to individuals and businesses that support the organization.

Interview with AMLEU President Thomas Joy

Membership consists of Active Law Enforcement, Retired Law Enforcement and Associate Members. Membership dues for Active and Retired Law Enforcement is $100 for initial yearly dues and $50 for years thereafter. Associate member dues are $100 yearly for individuals and $500 for businesses. Membership dues are collected yearly in the month of January. Associate members that are businesses are eligible to advertise their business in the “Supporters” section of our website and also highlighted on the AMLEU social media sites.
